It's Tris's first day of fighting. This isn't good. She has to fight Peter.
"My opponent is Peter."
Peter is almost a foot taller, and I can infer that he is at least 50 lbs heavier! This did not last long (not surprising) and Tris was knocked to the ground after just a couple hits. She wakes up to find her friends by her side. What loyal friends! I wonder how long they had been with Tris! Tris promises herself that she will survive initiation and become a Dauntless.
I agree that Tris has (or had) :( loyal friends. They stuck by her side from the start and she stuck by theirs. I bet all the initiates really needed someone during initiation becuase they left behind their factions, their family, their friends. I think this is why Al killed himself. He realized that Peter and Drew would not be there for him, he had just lost his best friends, he was alone.
