The action begins by Four walking with Tris to the depths of the chasm. Once they get to the very bottom, Four and Tris walk around rocks until they reach a flat area. This helps develop some of the setting! Here we also find out some key information about Four.
"These are things I don't tell people, you know."
He tells Tris that his aptitude test showed Abnegation. Tris too showed Abnegation. Four and Tris realize this, then they kiss. Four and Tris continue this trend, talking then kissing for several minutes. It seems to me that the bond these two characters have at this point in the book is inseparable. Four finally tells Tris that he likes her, which isn't a shock because of the way Four was telling Tris some of his secrets and kissing her.
