Chapter XX

Second simulation, and this time she is in a box filling up with water. Normally, you would stay calm and exit the simulation the normal way, but Tris decides to break the box, letting the water out. Tris exits the simulation and Four says that she is Divergent.

"You're Divergent," he replies."

She doesn't want to admit it but Four finally gets the information he wants. He warns Tris because if the counsel discovers she is Divergent, she will be killed. Four showed his sympathetic side and deleted the footage. She then goes and sees Tori who tells her what it means to be Divergent. To be Divergent means you are aware in a simulation and when you are aware, you can manipulate the simulation, hence changing the final result.
